Luck Has Little To Do With Success

Sometimes people give too much credit to luck for the success of others. If you studied carefully the traits of these people, you will find that luck has nothing to do with success. What are these traits?

1. Talk with people they do not know

If you think about some of the things you have achieved, you will realize that some of them came out of talking with people you have not met before. People who are in sales will know this better than most others, as this is something that they need to do.

2. Make small talk

Make conversations about anything under the sun. It does not have to be very intellectual topics. It could be about kids, food, health, books, the traffic or even the weather. This talk can sometimes lead to other discussions like a business deal or working on some project.

3. Do something different

Sometimes we move on autopilot doing the same thing and seldom something different. But think about others and even yourself, when you chose to do something different. This could result in a complete new path and even new careers for some people.

4. Exit when you are ahead

How often have you seen very successful people hold on to their positions long after their popularity has waned? This applies to heads of organizations, entertainers, politicians amongst others.

It is best to move on at the peak of popularity and people will remember you at your best.

5. Saying "Yes" when others say "No"

With the heavy workloads that some people carry, time management principles suggest that you say "no" to additional tasks. Sometimes, you may be throwing away opportunities if you rejected all such requests.

Consider carefully first, and take on some tasks that may result in you getting "lucky".

6. Listen with empathy

Listening with empathy helps to provide the most appropriate response that begets appreciation from others. Not just listening to what you want to hear and dishing out the standard responses.

7. Giving and getting help

Not only is it good to help people when needed but also to ask for help if necessary. There is no great value in trying to do everything through your own knowledge and effort. It just takes too long to achieve things that way.

Luck has nothing to do with success. Any luck is made through how you choose to respond to the daily happenings in life. Step out of your norm and make your luck.
